THE INNER EAR

GENERAL INFORMATION

There is a very large number of people of all age groups that has either been suffering from damage of the inner ear for years or has acutely fallen ill with a hearing disorder. At the same time, we find a varied spectrum of theories concerning the development and pathophysiology of these illnesses affecting the inner ear.

Accordingly, a manifold of therapeutic options and alternatives are being offered to persons affected by a hearing disorder. The result is a situation which is more or less confusing for all concerned.

It is, therefore, urgently necessary to provide thorough and accessible information about the (anatomical) design and functioning of our organ of hearing and balance as well as to openly discuss possibilities to prevent and treat diseases of the inner ear.
